The second piece for Plants and People, made in Photoshop and then brought into After Effects to be animated.

I was pushing for this piece to release around Valentines day, because what’s more romantic than a bouquet of flowers? I finished the illustration just in time for Valentines, but the animated segment required more time to complete. I was dealing with much more detailed shadows and two figures, which was a bit different than Trouble In Paradise.

Key themes include, two lovers after a date, romantic warm light, and a bouquet of thematic flowers. I spent some time considering which flowers to use, and after a while I went with Violets for their romantic connection to greek poet Sappho and the isle of Lesbos. As a queer individual myself, I enjoy paying homage to this figurehead and celebrating lesbian relationships.
